Love Reading Day
Mon 05 Feb 2024Every February, around St Valentine's day, we hold a 'Love Reading' day in school. This usually couples up with a visit from the Children's Bookshelf book sale. However this year, Children's Bookshelf are coming in on Weds 13th March - so mark it in your diary.
Last year's book was the wonderful Cat by Jackie Morris and we even had some gifts and a tweet from Jackie herself when she saw our children's beautiful work.
We are holding this year's Love Reading day on Friday 9th February and our whole school read this year is the classic 'Not now Bernard!' By David McKee. The book will be shared by all classes and we will be creating a 'monster' display showing the work from YR to Y6!

Road Safety
Thu 23 Nov 2023Re road safety at pick up
I am writing to advise parents that I have spoken to all the children today of expectations at the end of the school day when leaving the school site and particularly of the need to stay close to parents and not to run as they turn the corner on the road heading towards the A49.
I have had to stop a number of younger children in recent weeks from leaving the playground unaccompanied.
We have taken the children who walk home and all of year 6 on a local walk today to remind them of road safety, taking particular note of:
- The need to walk on the pavement and not the curb
- To walk not run
- To look and listen for traffic (especially looking for electric/hybrid motors)
- To be mindful when we cross driveways
- The procedure to take if they are crossing the road to wait by the bus stop for collection
- The need to be visible
With the last point in mind we have a number of Hi Vis jackets for the children who walk home alone to improve their visibility/safety. These will be available either from the office or the on the gate at the end of the day.
Kind regards.

#HelloYellow World Mental Health Day
Tue 10 Oct 2023We talked in assembly today about 'talking' at home if we have a worry before it becomes too big. Here is the link for the Ant & Dec's talking 'homework' should you want to look at it with your child. https://www.itv.com/britaingettalking/schools.html
We also watched a Zen Den visualisation together today about 'being the pond'. It's a lovely way to show children that it is ok to have different feelings 'swimming' around but that we should always try to be the pond and not let the 'fish' take over!
You can find the link to this on our Well Being page under PARENTS.
