Outdoors
Our Outdoor Area is an extension of our classroom curriculum but allows children to do things in a bigger scale, to be louder and more physical.
We have our own garden where we can dig, build, act out scenarios, communicate and negotiate.
We have a sand pit, mud kitchen, book area, cosy resting/reflection triangle, playhouse as well as a range of loose parts such as bricks, logs, cones, material and other building equipment where we can design, plan and build ramps, dens, anything we want!
We also have a water tray and a hosepipe to access water.
Chalkboards and writing/drawing materials are available for mark-making and labelling.
In the outdoor area we are BUILDERS, GARDENERS, EXPLORERS, SCIENTISTS, ARTISTS, ACTORS.
As the year progresses children are encouraged to label and write instructions, recipes, lists giving purpose to their writing.
The outdoor area provides an element of risk taking and safety measures are regularly incorporated into the children's plans and work.
